A man is behind bars after allegedly assaulting a family member and pointing a firearm at another.
Around 9 p.m. on Monday, Paris police officers were called to the 300 block of 16th Street S.W. for reports of a disturbance. Paris Police Lt. John Berry said when officers arrived, they were told 23-year-old Joshua Watkins “had assaulted a family member by throwing items which struck the family member.”
Berry said officers were told Watkins then pointed a firearm at another family member. Watkins was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was taken to Paris Municipal Jail where he awaits transfer to Lamar County Jail for bond setting.
