A bikini barista in Washington credits her toned bod for helping her escape a terrifying attack at knifepoint.
Madeline Guinto, 30, said she was able to strong-arm the alleged assailant, Michael Reynolds, when he climbed through the order window Tuesday morning and attempted to rape her at Hottie Shots Espresso stand in Kent, news station KIRO reported.
“Don’t work out just because you want to be skinny or fit into that bikini,” Guinto told KIRO. “You work out to be strong so you can fight back.”
While she was distracted making a drink, Reynolds reportedly jumped into the stand, placed a knife against the bikini barista’s throat and ordered her to leave with him.
“He kept telling me, ‘You’re coming with me or I will kill you,”’ she said. “I was keeping as calm as I could be, but I was thinking, ‘I’m going to die trying to live. I’m going to die fighting.’”
In a surveillance video, Reynolds was seen forcing Guinto back out the window of the coffee stand.
Guinto said she tried to resist him dragging her by holding onto the stand as she screamed. She was thrown to the ground in a nearby alley, where she was able to wrestle his knife from him, police said.
“I know for a fact that I’m a lot stronger than I look, so when he was choking me, I knew to just tense up and put my shoulders up, even if I was getting a little bit of air, I could wave my arms back and forth on the ground, feeling for the knife,” Guinto said.
Authorities said Reynolds fled when a car pulled into the drive-through and spooked him.
Reynolds, 33, was arrested Wednesday morning wearing the same clothing seen in the surveillance video after his employer tipped off police.
“I’m so glad he’s off the street,” Guinto told KIRO.
