A man was shot dead outside a Brooklyn church only a block from his home, cops said.
Claudell Gary, 37, was having a conversation in front of the Mt. Zion Pentecostal Church on Hart Street near Throop Avenue in Bed-Stuy around 8:40 p.m. Wednesday when a suspect wearing dark clothing approached him from behind and opened fire, police said.
Responding cops found Gary with two gunshot wounds, one to his neck and another to his left leg.
EMS personnel rushed him to Woodhull Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police found several 9 mm shell casings on scene, cops said.
No arrests had been made by Thursday morning, and the motive remained unclear.
