Around 1 a.m. on Sunday, Paris police officers were called to the 1500 block of E. Polk Street for reports of a disturbance.
Paris Police Lt. John Berry said when officers arrived, they were told 53-year-old James Rather was in a fight with another man.
“During the altercation, Rather cut the other male on the hand with a knife,” Berry said.
Rather was placed under arrest for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was taken to Lamar County Jail where no bond has been set.
