Man beat woman to death in dispute over a watch: cops

An Atlanta man charged with fatally beating a woman last month attacked her over a watch, warrants show.

Jason Leroy Brown, 34, surrendered to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday for the death of Taylor Bins, 24, who died on July 24 in Stone Mountain. Brown, who has been charged with felony murder, allegedly argued with Bins and struck her in the head and body numerous times, police said.

Warrants obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution through an open records request indicate that a witness told police Brown had been looking for Bins in connection to a watch.

Brown started to beat Bins while arguing over the timepiece. He then beat her and dragged her down a set of stairs and into the street. Bins apparently suffered a seizure at some point during the attack and died, according to warrants.

The relationship between Brown and Bins has not been released by authorities, but the warrants characterized the incident as family violence, according to the newspaper.

Brown remains in custody without bail at the DeKalb County Jail, where he was taken into custody without incident, authorities said.
