Man charged with girlfriend’s murder after cops find him covered in blood

A Bronx man was charged in the gruesome death of his new girlfriend after he emerged covered in blood from his bedroom, where cops found her battered body, police said Monday.

Kayon Williams’ cousin got nervous after calls to her cell phone went unanswered Thursday night. She knew Williams was at her boyfriend’s apartment on Lurting Avenue near Duncan Street, but had not heard from her all day, police said.

When she tried calling again, Williams’ boyfriend Prince-Roy Mullings, 28, answered but refused to put her cousin on the phone, police said.

Relatives decided to ask police to perform a wellness check at Mullings’ Allerton home about 11:45 p.m. Thursday. When officers arrived, a roommate let them into the apartment, but Mullings, who was in his bedroom at the time, wouldn’t open his door to let them in.

When Mullings finally came out into the common area, he was covered in blood, police said.

Cops discovered Williams in her boyfriend’s room — lying face down between the bed and the dresser in a large puddle of her own blood, police said.

She had suffered severe trauma to her head and face and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mullings was arrested around 1:10 a.m. Friday and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

It was not immediately clear how Williams was killed.

Police are still investigating the homicide.
