A local man will spend the next 15 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of stabbing a teenager last summer.
Paul Saldino Bailey Jr., 36, was found guilty of stabbing 19-year-old Auston Mathews last July at Booker T. Washington Homes.
“The jury found Bailey was guilty of going to Mathews’ home where a confrontation apparently ensued,” Drake said. “At some point, Mathews thought Bailey was going to strike him. He put his hands up to defend himself and Bailey stabbed him in the hand with a knife.”
Mathews was taken to Paris Regional Medical Center for treatment. Bailey was soon found nearby and placed under arrest.
The jury deliberated for several hours, said Assistant District Attorney Jill Drake, before coming to a decision. Bailey was represented by Carl White.
