A man is behind bars after he allegedly threatened a group of people with a gun Friday.
Around 6:30 p.m., Paris police officers were called to the 400 block of 20th Street S.E. for reports of a man with a gun.
Paris Police Lt. John Berry said when officers arrived, they found 25-year-old Ricky Lee Carreno.
“Carreno was alleged to have pointed a firearm at multiple people at that location during a heated verbal altercation,” Berry said. “A handgun was located in close proximity to Carreno and he was placed under arrest for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.”
Berry said Carreno was also found to be a convicted felon and was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, along with an outstanding warrant out of Lamar County for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
He was taken to Lamar County Jail where a bond of $10,000 was set for the outstanding warrant. No bonds have been set for the additional charges.
