A deranged man who admitted to stabbing his sister to death in their Chinatown apartment was sentenced Wednesday to 19 years to life.
“Chuen Lau brutally murdered his own sister in a vicious act of domestic violence, stabbing and beating her to death in the apartment they shared before fleeing the scene,” said Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance Jr. in a statement.
“Ms. Liu was a beloved mother, sister, and aunt – and while this sentence cannot bring her back, I hope it brings a sense of closure to her loved ones.”
Chuen Lau, 60, previously copped to second-degree murder in Manhattan Supreme Court for the May 2014 slaying of Meilin Liu, 57.
Lau told cops at the time that his sister tried to poison him. “I ate something and saw blood in my stool,” he told police, according to court papers.
A family member discovered her blood-soaked body in the bathtub of the Eldridge Street apartment.
His lawyer, Enrico DeMarco, declined to comment.
