Choking incident

Christopher Lamont Brooks

Around 8 p.m. on Friday, police were called to 60 W. Washington Street for reports of an assault. Curtis Garrett of the Paris Police Department said when officers arrived, they were told 45-year-old Christopher Lamont Brooks had assaulted his girlfriend by choking her. He was taken to Lamar County Jail where no bond is set.

Assault with a pipe

On Saturday around 3 a.m., Paris police officers were called for reports of an assault that had occurred in the 700 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Garrett said when officers arrived, they found a victim who had “several lacerations to his head and hands.”

Garrett said the victim and witness advised that a known suspect had broken into their home and demanded money before assaulting one of them with a pipe.

“The victim was taken to PRMC with non-life threatening injuries,” Garrett said. “The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.”

Drive-by shooting

Around 8 p.m. on Sunday, officers received a report of a driver’s side window possibly being shot out.

“The victim advised that the driver’s door window of his vehicle had suddenly shattered in the 900 block of W. Campbell Street,” Garrett said. “The victim advised that he drove away from the scene before calling the police because he thought someone had shot the window.”
