Regional crime: Officials offer $5,000 reward for wanted sex offender

Billy Don Urango is a convicted sex offender required to register every three months for life. He has ties to the cities of Dallas, Watauga (Tarrant County), and Bedford (Tarrant County).

In 2010, Urango was convicted of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child (two counts) and Indecency with a Child – Sexual Contact after an incident in Grayson County involving an 11-year-old boy. In addition, he was also convicted in 2010 of Indecency with a Child-Exposure.

Urango was subsequently sentenced to 10 years in TDCJ prison. He was released on parole from TDCJ in June 2016 and was residing at a halfway house in Dallas before absconding.

On June 8, 2017, a Parole Violation warrant for Urango’s arrest was issued by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. An additional warrant was also issued in Dallas County for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
