The woman accused of attacking a jailer at Lamar County Jail will be in court next month.
Shannon D. Thompson, 29, was arrested Feb. 1, 2018, after allegedly using multiple stolen debit cards at an ATM. Around 2:30 p.m. on March 21, Lamar County Sheriff Scott Cass said he was serving her warrant in the jail lobby when Thompson started resisting and fighting deputies.
“Detention staff was called to assist the deputies in restraining the female,” Cass said during a previous interview. “While [Thompson] resisted attempts to be taken into custody, she began kicking at the officers and struck one of the female detention officers in the head. [Thompson] was wearing a medical boot on the foot that struck the detention officer. Paris Emergency Services were called to the Sheriff’s Office and the detention officer was flown to a hospital in the metroplex for the injuries received during the fight.”
Thompson’s arraignment hearing is set for May 21 in front of 6th District Court Judge Wes Tidwell at 9 a.m.
